Big Brother Naija Level Up housemate Phyna has been handed a brand new Innoson SUV and a N50 million check to the reality show’s season 7 pop-up winner.
The winner of the show, which ended on Sunday, received the grand prize at an event in Lagos state on Tuesday.
In his remarks, MultiChoice Nigeria CEO John Ugbe congratulated Phyna and other housemates for providing the audience with 72 days of world-class entertainment.
He also thanked the fans for giving the show a winner.
Ugbe said: “Congratulations, Phyna, and immense gratitude to the housemates, real and fake, and to the Riders for providing fans and viewers with top-notch entertainment for the duration of the show.”
Speaking about Big Brother Naija’s economic contribution, Ugbe revealed that the Level Up edition provided 1,200 jobs, direct and indirect, while the production cost amounted to N4.7 billion, which includes licensing, modeling, and marketing costs.
He added that the show received over a billion votes, with over N100 million in prizes won by housemates during the chores and N30 million won by 30 fans who locked their favorite during the show.
Ugbe added: “Big Brother Naija is more than entertainment.
“It is recognized for its social and economic values.
“To date, more than 14,000 people from various industries have worked on this program.
“This year 1,200 people worked directly, including photographers, carpenters, interior decorators and fashion designers.
“The show contributes significantly to the economy.
“Furthermore, housemates won over N100 million in prizes on tasks alone this year and 30 fans won N1 million each.
“Big Brother Naija Season 7 is another record breaking season with over a billion votes.
“We are proud of the support the housemates received from the viewers and fans.”
Receiving her award, an emotional Phyna thanked fans for voting for her and MultiChoice Nigeria for providing a platform to sell themselves to the world.
She said: “I thank God first.
“It has been God all the way.
“Thank you to MultiChoice Nigeria and the Big Brother Naija program for giving me this privilege, after four years of auditions.
“The fifth year, I am here, as a winner.
“Thank you to everyone who voted for me and thank you to my housemates.”
Executive Director of Content and Channels West Africa, MultiChoice Nigeria, Dr. Busola Tejumola praised Phyna for playing the game and thanked the sponsors for making the show a success.
