
Josephine Otabor, also known as Phyna, was the winner of the seventh season of Big Brother Naija Level Up after obtaining a total of 40.74 percent of the votes in the last week.
The show’s host, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, announced the winner at this season’s grand finale on Sunday, October 2, 2022.
The Edo state native beat out 23 other housemates to clinch the award after 72 intensely competitive days.
This is the second time that a housemate, against all odds, will be declared the winner of Big Brother Naija.
For the second time in the show’s history, the finale featured a Top 6 instead of a Top 5.
Bryann was the first runner-up with 26.74 percent of the vote.
Bella came in third place after getting 15.78 percent of the votes.
Others in the Top 6 were Adekunle, who gathered 12.36 percent of the votes and came in fourth; Chi Chi, who ranked fifth with 2.49 percent; and Daniella finished sixth with 1.89 percent.
Phyna joins Whitemoney, Laycon, Mercy, Miracle, Efe and Katung on Big Brother Naija’s coveted list of winners.
Like the previous winners, Phyna will certainly take advantage of the opportunity that the Big Brother Naija platform offers her for her career.
The seventh edition of the Big Brother Naija franchise will go down in history as the most successful to date, having registered more than one billion votes, more than 40,000 auditions and records of participation in social networks.
Groundbreaking changes to the show and twists that occurred early on helped keep things exciting.
It also had viewers on their toes and constantly trying to figure out Big Brother’s next move.
The success of this edition is especially remarkable, considering that fans did not have the usual SMS voting platforms to vote this year.
The grand finale, which was broadcast live on DStv 198 and GOtv 29 at 7pm, featured live performances by Nigerian superstars MI Abaga, Falz and Pheelz.
The highlight of the night was a surprise journaling session with Ebuka and Biggie.
Their session was shortly followed by a performance by MI
Following Daniella and Chi Chi’s eviction, Falz thrilled the audience with his hit songs: Bop Daddy and Highway.
Pheelz closed the night of performances with his award-winning songs: Finesse and Electricity.
The grand prize of N100 million for this season’s winner is the biggest yet, with a cash prize of N50 million and a new Innoson G5T from Innoson Motors.
Other prizes include a bitcoin from Quidax, a trip to Dubai for two courtesy of TravelBeta, a new Camon 19 from Tecno, and electronics from Nexus.
To make things more interesting, Pepsi would give the winner a year’s supply of Pepsi products, while Waw detergent, Munch It, Unik and Dano would provide packs of their products.
Big Brother Naija Level Up headline and associated sponsors: Pocket by PiggyVest and Flutterwave, would give away cash prizes to the winner.
