
The organizers of the recently concluded reality television show, Big Brother Naija season 7, said that more than N4.7 billion was invested in the production of the show.
John Ugbe, CEO of MultiChoice Nigeria, revealed this during the presentation of the award to the winner of the “Level Up” edition, Josephine Otabor, popularly known as Phyna, on Tuesday in Lagos.
The Nigerian News Agency (NAN) reports that Phyna turned out to be the show’s winner when she walked away with the N100 million grand prize.
The grand prize comprises N50 million, a new SUV from Innoson Motors, a trip to Dubai for two, a year’s supply of Pepsi, a new tech phone – Camon 19, a supply of Unik soap and a supply of Nexus appliances, among other delicious items . .
Ugbe also said that more than a billion votes were cast over the course of the show.
He praised the housemates for providing premium entertainment during the show and also thanked the fans and the media for their continued support.
“N4.7 billion was invested in the show, that’s the production cost of the season 7 show, we also got over a billion votes for the entire show.
“The Big Brother Naija show is more than just entertainment, it also reflects social and value creation, the show has empowered more than 1,200 people, including fashion designers, capenters, interior decorators, photographers and more.
“Today, this show contributes significantly to the Nigerian economy,” he said.
Earlier, Busola Tejumola, Executive Director of Content, West African Channels, Multichoice Nigeria, said he was delivering on the investment of over N4.7 billion in the production of the show.
Tejumola said that the show had created a platform for the showcase of viable talent, job creation, and individual Nigerians to fulfill their dreams and aspirations of achieving fame.
She said that recording more than a billion total votes for the season of Level Up attests to the fact that fans of the show were fully engaged with the premium content.

Phyna, the winner of the show, received a check for N50 million and her new SUV.
